Summary

From award-winning author Rachel Lacey comes a playful romance about a Manhattan bookstore owner and a reclusive author who love to hate—and hate to love—each other。

Books are Rosie Taft’s life。 And ever since she took over her mother’s beloved Manhattan bookstore, they’ve become her home too。 The only thing missing is her own real-life romance like the ones she loves to read about, and Rosie has an idea of who she might like to sweep her off her feet。 She’s struck up a flirty online friendship with lesbian romance author Brie, and what could be more romantic than falling in love with her favorite author?

Jane Breslin works hard to keep her professional and personal lives neatly separated。 By day, she works for the family property development business。 By night, she puts her steamier side on paper under her pen name: Brie。 Jane hasn’t had much luck with her own love life, but her online connection with a loyal reader makes Jane wonder if she could be the one。

When Rosie learns that her bookstore’s lease has been terminated by Jane’s family’s business, romance moves to the back burner。 Even though they’re at odds, there’s no denying the sparks that fly every time they’re together。 When their online identities are revealed, will Jane be able to write her way to a happy ending, or is Rosie’s heart a closed book?

The book I found enjoyable to read and I like a long book that holds my interest。 I also do like the trope in general!I love Rosie’s version of what dating should be and how she views romance!I can also relate to Jane in that she doesn’t know how to be her true self with everyone, it’s scary! I felt the author done a really good job portraying this。The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is at times I found Rosie to be a bit dramatic with the job issue and I was kind of annoyed at her almost… A The book I found enjoyable to read and I like a long book that holds my interest。 I also do like the trope in general!I love Rosie’s version of what dating should be and how she views romance!I can also relate to Jane in that she doesn’t know how to be her true self with everyone, it’s scary! Pleasant lesbian romance between a bookstore owner and a real estate developer。 I enjoyed the plot twists; the sex scenes were a bit rushed。

This is a nice queer romance story with a slight enemies to lovers theme。 I really enjoyed the character development and there was great steam。

I absolutely loved this book。 Rosie and Jane were both fantastic characters。 Their romance was adorable。 I will definitely re-read this book at some point and I can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out!

My first “Power Through” of the year! So to start, if you’re thinking it’s enemies to lovers it’s there isn’t enough angst and discourse surrounding the two characters。 They discover who they are to each other fairly early in the story (not a spoiler, it’s in the book description) and I wish it had taken longer in order to really build that tension。 Unfortunately that was not the case and it left little room for the story to go with 75% of the book left to read。 I found there was a lot of filler My first “Power Through” of the year! I loved the concept but the dialogue was so stiff and forced。

Sweet romance。 Some of the drama was a bit unbelievable。 Generally, the characters were likable, but some of the drama and a bit of the chemistry was not。 Stepped out of my comfort zone for a minute with this one。

FINAL RATING: 4。5 ✨This is my first ever LGBTQ+ Romance book and I absolutely loved it。 This was a great introduction to the genre for this community。 I really loved both of the main characters。 I thought this was a beautifully written romance that made the heart smile。 This definitely reminds me of a rom com and I love that。 If this was a movie I would definitely watch it。 My two favorite parts were the book store element and the doggie of course!Loved this romance! OMG! this book is actual perfection and I'm not kidding! i like the flirty online friends and enemies in real life type of stories and it was executed well。 i was cackling like a witch reading this book and I love rosie and jane's romance, the way they help each other and support each other and the way on how their conflict (how they first meet) keep on haunting them up until the third act。 everyone is likable, it's hilarious, I love it。 5 stars! This book solves the only flaws in the classic rom com ‘You’ve Got Mail。’ The main crafters find out sooner who they’re communicating with online… and they’re lesbians。

Dnf at 60% but read spoilers。 I did enjoy the first half but started to really dislike Rosie。 I think this had so much potential but was way overwritten and I got bored after they got together finally。

Very cute enemies-to-lovers lesbian romance! I am a total sucker for anything even partially set in a bookstore, and Between the Pages bookstore did it for me。 3。5 stars, rounded to 3。 I'd read the next book in the series! This book is a light read about a cute romance between a secretive author and a bookstore owner who just keep stumbling into each other。 As is typical in any rom-com, almost all of the issues in this book stem from miscommunication or people taking things too personally。 A little tiring at times, but overall a cozy little read。I read this book for free with my Amazon Prime book selection。

Sigh。 I don't know what it was about this book, but it just did not work for me for some reason。 I just couldn't get into it, and kept wanting to reach for my phone to do other things instead。 Things I liked about this book:1) The concept is great。 I liked reimaginings of classic romcoms, and this was similar enough to You've Got Mail to see get the same vibe, without being a direct rip-off。 The characters in this were both WAY more likeable than the characters in that movie, and I'm kind of gla Sigh。 I don't know what it was about this book, but it just did not work for me for some reason。 I just couldn't get into it, and kept wanting to reach for my phone to do other things instead。 Things I liked about this book:1) The concept is great。 I liked reimaginings of classic romcoms, and this was similar enough to You've Got Mail to see get the same vibe, without being a direct rip-off。 The characters in this were both WAY more likeable than the characters in that movie, and I'm kind of glad the enemies-to-lovers aspect of it was on the lighter side。2) The dog was great。 He was a good boy, and he felt like his own character instead of just a prop to the story, which is something a lot of pets in books end up being。Things I didn't like:1) I wish there were more descriptions。 I don't know if f/f and f/m books just like to not describe what the characters look like so that the reader can easily self-insert or something, but I have never once wanted to insert myself into a story and I would have LOVED some kind of description of what Rosie and Jane looked like other than their hair and dresses。 Eye colours, body types, what kind of nose they each had, if they have straight teeth and nice smiles, those sort of things can really add to the personality of the characters。 As it was, I just had to assume they were both clean-shaved, skinny white femme women with decently-sized breasts, I guess。 Bland, boring, perfect cookie-cutter romcom women。 I would have also liked to have had a description of what the book shop looked like, to be able to actually visualise the cosy feel to it and better understand why the location meant so much for Rosie。 Hell, I would have even have loved to know what breed of dog the dog was!2) I think the writing style was just。。。 bland。 I didn't feel any kind of emotion towards anything the characters did, I couldn't feel much of their personalities through their actions, thoughts or speech, and I really struggled to focus on the writing。 I probably sped-read through the last 60% of the book when I realised that the only way I could get through it without DNFing it was to just skim as much as possible。It just sometimes felt like I was reading a to-do list instead of a narrative story, and there were quite a few sections were I read it and thought "this would scene could have been cut out and the book probably would have been better for it。"So, yeah, I have two pros and two cons to this book。 It's a solid 3 stars。 I didn't hate it, and I could definitely see other people reading this and having it be in their top ten books of the year。 I think it's a solid story, and a technically proficient writing style。 It's just。。。 didn't work for me。 。。。more

When you stay up until 2:30am finishing a book it's fair to say that it's a new favourite, I think, right? I absolutely loved this book and had so much fun all throughout reading it。 I especially loved Jane and her story full of character development that made me so proud of her。 I found myself rooting for her from page 1 until the very last one。 This book had everything I love, and some stuff I didn't know I needed - the love for books is SO present on every single page, I adored reading about When you stay up until 2:30am finishing a book it's fair to say that it's a new favourite, I think, right? I absolutely loved this book! I could not put it down and I cried and I laughed every step of the way。 Surprisingly, given that I am gay, this was my first lesbian fiction and it definitely won’t be my last!

This book is the equivalent of a pink, floofy marshmallow cloud。 It's sweet, it's fluffy and (thankfully) has no pointless drama, but actual adult people who are able to talk about problems as protagonists。 You won't believe how grateful I am for any romance novel that isn't using the "misunderstanding" aka the "we won't talk about problems and just push everything under the rug until we explode" trope。 Sure, there were some emotions boiling over and there was drama, but I never felt that it was This book is the equivalent of a pink, floofy marshmallow cloud。 It's sweet, it's fluffy and (thankfully) has no pointless drama, but actual adult people who are able to talk about problems as protagonists。 You won't believe how grateful I am for any romance novel that isn't using the "misunderstanding" aka the "we won't talk about problems and just push everything under the rug until we explode" trope。 Sure, there were some emotions boiling over and there was drama, but I never felt that it was out of the blue or had no legs to stand on。Also, this is how you do enemies-to-lovers right。 :)My only issue was that sometimes I felt like the book was padding time with nothing of substance so there were a few parts that felt a bit boring to me, thus the 4 star rating。Since this was my first book from Rachel Lacey, I was smitten by it, though I've seen that some fans are not that happy, which makes me even more inclined to go and read more books from her。 。。。more

Rosie and Jane’s relationship goes from strangers to enemies to friends to lovers and sprinkle a little bit of an online relationship with secret identities and you’ve got the fittings of this fantastic book。 I also loved that Jane writes lesbian romance under a pen name and that Rosie is a huge fan of those books, because that added one more fantastic layer to their story。 Since I’m so picky about conflict in romances, I gotta say that I was glad their secret online relationship isn’t something that causes pain, it’s handled in the most awkwardly adorable way possible for these two characters and I loved that so much。While a little slower than I would have liked, I have to say that I enjoyed watching these two characters fall in love。 Rosie and Jane butt heads at the beginning because of who Jane is and what her family’s business is doing to Rosie’s family business, but the two of them handle it like adults and move from being enemies to slowly becoming friends and then so much more。 I loved the build up and the process through which their relationship changes。 I also really liked how both Rosie and Jane help each other adjust to the other’s lives—Rosie definitely helps Jane step out of her comfort zone more often than she’d probably like。With the addition of a great group of friends, wonderful family dynamics, an adorable dog named Brinkley and a whole lot of great sapphic love, Read Between the Lines was a great introduction to the writing talents of Rachel Lacey。 And I can’t wait to read book two— No Rings Attached—which comes out in April, because I loved Lia so much and I can’t wait to see what she gets up to in her own book! 。。。more
